Part of the Microsoft Office suite, Outlook is an email client that allows users to send and receive emails, manage contacts, calendars, and tasks all from a single window.
For years, Outlook has been the go-to email client for many people. Many organizations make use of the software to send work-related emails on a daily basis.
It is available on a multitude of platforms including Android and iOS. Having said that, Microsoft Outlook users are facing trouble receiving notifications from the app on iOS devices.
According to user reports, Microsoft Outlook is no longer sending push email notifications or previews after they are updated to iOS 15.
But the app does send calendar notifications. This is really weird since the notifications seem to be working partially. This is similar to the iOS 14 issue where users reported missing push notifications last year.
People say they have tried reinstalling the app, allowed app notifications but nothing seems to be working right now.
Reports suggest that the issue surfaced after the last Outlook update. Maybe Microsoft broke something in the last update that is causing users to miss out on important emails.
Some say that they have to manually open the app if they want to receive notifications, which defeats the purpose of push notifications.
People who used the app on iOS 15 Beta say they were getting push email notifications without any problem whatsoever. A potential workaround includes removing and adding the email account, but it is only working for some.
Fortunately, it looks like Microsoft is aware of the issue. Outlook developers say they have identified the root cause and are currently working on a fix for push notifications on iOS 15.
However, they haven’t shared any ETA on when it will be fixed. Till then, affected Outlook users may have to manually check the app to see if they have new emails.
