Following the massive success of Monster Hunter World, Capcom turned its sights to Nintendo’s hybrid console, the Switch. While players there missed out on the last game in the franchise, Switch players were given their own exclusive title in Monster Hunter Rise. The game featured a brand new story, new monsters, and new gameplay mechanics like the ability to ride a Palamute and use Wirebugs to enhance attacks or navigate the world faster.

All in all, Monster Hunter Rise quickly became another big success for Capcom, who eventually launched the game on PC at the start of 2022. The Steam release solved one of the major criticisms of the Switch version, which surrounded the game’s visuals. Alongside higher resolution textures and 4K visuals, PC players have enjoyed uncapped framerates, ultrawide display support, voice chat, and more. While all Monster Hunter Rise players have enjoyed plenty of updates, fans continue to eagerly wait news on the first paid expansion known as Sunbreak.

After promising more Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak news in the Spring of 2022, Capcom is finally preparing to deliver the details. In a new Tweet, the official Monster Hunter Twitter account revealed a new digital event will be held on March 15 on the official Monster Hunter Twitch channel. Fans can expect 20 minutes of Sunbreak related content which Capcom has teased to include reveals of new monsters, gameplay information, and much more.

Unfortunately, the details stop there, leaving fans to speculate as to when the paid expansion will release and how much it might cost. While Capcom has kept much of the Monster Hunter Rise news to a minimum over these past few months, it hasn’t stopped fans from creating their own wishlist of features and content including support for Crossplay and Cross Save, which would allow Switch owners to move to the Steam version and vice-versa.

While there’s a lot of things fans don’t know, Capcom has previously confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is going to be a massive expansion, similar to Iceborne for Monster Hunter World. Fans who have been waiting for a greater challenge will finally get that with the Master Rank quests. The expansion will focus on the Elder Dragon Malzeno, while also bringing back classic monsters from the series’ history as well as new hunter areas and a Hub Area. Naturally, with all of these monster to hunt in the expansion, players will have plenty of new gear and armor to craft as well.

Monster Hunter Rise is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch.
