Some users in India with devices such as the Motorola Moto G 5G and the Moto G30 are reporting that they aren’t able to use the QR code scanner in the Google Pay (GPay) app.
The QR code scanner lets users transfer money to merchants or others in a jiffy without having to exchange phone numbers.
This is why it’s one of the most important features in Google Pay or any other payments app for that matter.
And now that it isn’t working on some Motorola smartphones in India, several users have taken to the company’s community forums seeking help.
Most reports of the Google Pay QR code scanning issue are from Motorola G 5G users in India, however, some users with other models such as the Moto G30 are also experiencing the same.
An individual has even shared a video recording of the bug in action. Check it out below:
As made clear in the video, the app freezes as soon as the camera turns on when trying to use the QR code feature in Google Pay, thus preventing users from scanning any QR code.
Fortunately, the company didn’t take long to acknowledge the issue. Matter of fact, a Moto Agent has confirmed that Motorola is working with Google to fix the issue with an update to the Google Pay (GPay) app on the Play Store.
While the team has not shared an ETA for the fix, it’s likely that Google will patch the bug within the next few days.
