MTG Arena (Magic: The Gathering Arena) is a digital version of the iconic Magic trading card game. It is currently available as a free-to-play game on Windows OS, macOS, Android, and iOS devices.
However, currently, many MTG Arena players are facing a couple of annoying issues that prevent them from enjoying the game. The problems reportedly started after the Streets of New Capenna (SNC) update.
According to multiple reports, MTG Arena players on PC are getting an ‘Asset error detected’ message. Meanwhile, the MTG Arena app on iOS devices is experiencing crashing after the SNC update.

The MTG Arena ‘Asset error detected: Arena will relaunch to verify asset contents’ message appears every time players try to launch the game (1, 2).
I have a problem starting MTG Arena after The Streets of New Capenna update. I keep getting this error message: “Asset Error Detected: Arena will relaunch to verify asset contents.” It keeps comming up again and again after I click okay for relaunch the game. Source
I dunno how to fix this, i have tried reinstalling after complete uninstall, i have renewed my ip, and i deleted all asset files, and had the game redownload them. Nothing worked. Source
Potential workarounds
However, there are a couple of potential workarounds that reportedly help resolve this issue. The first option is to change the language of your device (mobile or PC) to ‘English’.
The second workaround is for PC gamers. If the first option did not work for you, you can try to change the Regional Format of your PC to English as follows:
You can do it by going in Windows 10 to:
Start (the Windows symbol) -> Settings -> Time & Language (Speech Region Date) -> Region -> Change “Regional Format” to English (United Kingdom). Do it while your game is closed. Source
MTG Arena iOS app crashing after SNC update
After the MTG Arena: Streets of New Capenna (SNC) update, many iOS players are experiencing an annoying crashing issue that prevents them from accessing the game (1, 2).
There is no official acknowledgment on any of the problems from the developers yet. We will update this story once new details emerge on the matter.
The app immediately crashes with no explanation. After SEVERAL reinstalls STILL THE SAME ERROR OCCURS! UNPLAYABLE! Will not even start or make it to a load screen. THIS IS HIGHLY UNFORTUNATE as I have spent quite a bit of money to play this new set!!!! Source
Sometimes I click the app, it loads a black screen then closes. I’m unable to play when this happens. It only works again when I reinstall. Any ideas? I’m on an Iphone with the latest IOS. Source
