Nawazuddin Siddiqui, an Indian actor based in Los Angeles, will star in the upcoming US indie film ‘Laxman Lopez.’ According to rumours, the film will be directed by Mexico’s Roberto Girault, who has previously helmed local hits such as 2017’s ‘La Leyenda Del Diamante,’ 2015’s ‘Los Arboles Mueren de Pie,’ and 2009’s ‘El Estudiante.’ Beginning at the end of this year, filming will take place exclusively in the United States.

More casting information will be released closer to the start of production. Lalit Bhatnagar, writer and co-producer of the horror film ‘Little Darling,’ is the producer.

Nawazuddin is in Cannes as part of an Indian government delegation to the festival and rights market, where India is the first country of honour.

“I was enthralled by the narration for a variety of reasons. For starters, the chance to work in a Christmas film is a unique opportunity that piqued my interest right away. Roberto Girault, the director, has demonstrated his command of the camera and his ability to reveal new sides to actors. It’s a fun task that I look forward to. Most importantly, the name Laxman Lopez piqued my interest right away.”

“This partnership excites me greatly. This script is near and dear to my heart, and the story’s transition and the struggles that the protagonist endures are guaranteed to pique everyone’s interest “Girault stated.

“I began my quest for the ideal Laxman Lopez when I first read the script, and my mind immediately went to Nawazuddin. I’ve seen a handful of his films and am confident that this role will reveal a more vulnerable side of him. It’s a project that’ll leave folks with a big grin on their faces and a lot of hunger in their bellies!”
