According to recent reports, Netflix has cancelled Resident Evil after its first season. The first season premiered in the OTT platform with eight episodes on July 14.

The series levitated to the Top 10 rankings in a fast pace. However, soon after it fell off the pedestal after moderate reaction from the audience and critics.

Netflix’s Resident Evil presented an original story, which was set in the Resident Evil Universe. The alternate timeline featured the Umbrella Corporation founding the New Raccoon City. Albert Wesker and his two daughters, Jade and Billie, moves in to this city together.

The Netflix series follows two timelines. The New Raccoon City storyline along with a timeline set 14 years later when the T-virus kills the human population.

The series in Netflix did not see follow up of storylines from the game. However, iconic monsters like Licker did appear in the Netflix show.

The entertainment space knows Resident Evil to have been adapted numerous times. This is inclusive of a series of financially successful films. A reboot Welcome to Raccoon City also exists. Welcome to Raccoon City has been the most direct adaptation of the game to date. However, most of the time, creators take the source material from the Resident Evil universe to develop original stories.
