Following the shooting death of popular Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala in Mansa on Sunday, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa critiqued the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government for removing security, further asserting that the singer’s valuable life was taken due to Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s “dirty politics.” Sirsa went on to say that CM Mann should be held accountable for removing Moosewala’s security.
Sirsa had criticized individuals who leaked the name of individuals whose security had been removed by the state government on Saturday.
Taking to his Twitter, Manjinder Sirsa said, “How did such a sensitive document of Punjab government become public!! I demand strict action against those who leaked a confidential list of people whose security was withdrawn by Govt of Punjab. First, you withdrew security & then you make them vulnerable by leaking their names!”
He further said, “A high-level enquiry should be ordered against the reckless Punjab government officers or leaders involved in sharing this document with the public.”
The Punjab government has withdrawn security cover for 424 individuals
The Punjab government removed security protection for roughly 424 persons and ordered the concerned police officials to submit to the special DGP at Jalandhar Cantt on Saturday, resulting in the tragedy. Retired law enforcement officers, religious leaders, and political figures are among the VIPs whose security has been cancelled.
Sidhu Moosewala, a Punjabi musician and Congress activist, was shot and killed in Mansa just the day after the security was withdrawn. According to reports, unknown assailants opened fire on Sidhu Moosewala and two other people in Jawaharke village, critically injuring the singer. Moosewala was transported to a hospital in Mansa after the incident, but was declared dead upon arrival.
