The official Date A Live IV website released a new key visual on Monday, revealing the upcoming anime’s April 8 premiere date as well.
The series will air on the AT-X channel at 10:00 p.m. JST, then air on Tokyo MX, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and BS11. The anime was initially supposed to air in October 2021, but was delayed due to undisclosed reasons.
Kōshi Tachibana’s Date A Live light novel series ran from 2011-2020 and was illustrated by former Idea Factory character designer Tsunako. The series was a part of Fujimi Shobo’s Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint, running in Dragon Magazine. The series has inspired an anime adaptation, various video games, and a handful of spin-offs.
The Date A Live anime first aired in 2013, with a 12-episode adaptation animated by AIC Plus+ airing during the Spring 2013 season. Production IMS animated the 10-episode second series a year later. After a seven-year gap, J.C.Staff animated the 12-episode third series, which aired during the Winter 2019 season. Geek Toys, the studio behind the two Date A Bullet film adaptations, are taking over for the fourth season.
Jun Nakagawa (High School Fleet Movie, Date A Bullet) is taking over as director for season four. Keitaro Motonaga (Persona 3 the Movie 3: Falling Down, Katanagatari) directed the first three seasons of the anime as well as the 2015 Date A Live: The Movie – Mayuri Judgement film.
The main cast will return to reprise their roles for the upcoming fourth season. Akari Kageyama (Himouto! Umaru-chan’s Nana Ebina) will join the cast as Mokuro Hoshimiya, with Hitomi Nabatame (the Fate series’ Bazett) joining as Nia Honjō. The opening theme song, “OveR”, will be performed by voice actress Miyu Tomita (Made in Abyss’ Riko, We Never Learn’s Rizu Ogata). The ending theme, “S.O.S.”, will be performed by voice actor unit sweet ARMS, who have worked on theme songs for the series in the past.
Yen Press publishes the light novels in English and Funimation licenses the anime series.
