A new card series is hitting the NBA 2K22 market, and it’s one that fans of the franchise are excited about. The new set, debuting at almost the same time the Signature Series pack set came out, includes players of multiple generations, with two set positions for players to choose from.

The series, dubbed “Out Of Position,” features 12 units capable of playing two positions, one natural placing and another they are not familiar with. The new pack is available in the NBA 2K22 marketplace as part of the MyTeam Pack set.

The series was announced on Twitter with the first three units revealed; DeMar DeRozan as a point guard/power forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo as a shooting guard/small forward, and Michael Jordan as a point guard/shooting guard. Both Jordan and Antetokounmpo are Dark Matter cards, while DeRozan is a Galaxy Opal unit. The idea received praise during its inaugural year, as it allows players to use certain stars in different roles. Players known for scoring points can suddenly become a 99-overall guard, giving gamers a major boost to their lineup.

The series contains 12 cards in total, with two units representing each overall category. Anthony Davis joins DeRozan as the two Galaxy Opal players, Ben Wallace and Jimmy Butler as Pink Diamonds, Evan Mobley and Penny Hardaway as Diamonds, Ben Simmons and Toni Kukoc as Amethysts, and finally Earl Boykins and Arvydas Sabonis. All players are obtainable by the MyTeam pack, however, players with an abundance of in-game currency are better served hitting the Auctions part of the game and buying the units they wish to add separately. There is no news yet on whether NBA 2K22 will add a separate 10-pack box set, which usually includes a guaranteed card from the series, making these 12 units a hot ticket.

Despite the game being six months old already, 2K Games continues to roll out new content consistently since the new year. Earlier in the week, Season 5 of MyTeam released several new challenges and units to collect, including two new Dark Matter cards for players to get their hands on. Last week, basketball fans got a handful of locker codes that granted them free items and the release of set packs like the 60s/70s and Bracket Buster series. Each series comes with a 10-pack bundle that guarantees buyers a specialized card from the set, so it remains hopeful NBA 2K22 will do the same for the Out Of Position set. If not, the new featured units could cause the Auctions section to see massive inflation in terms of how much they go for, and there will always be those looking to capitalize on opportunities like these.

NBA 2K22 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
