New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…
Original story (published on October 06, 2021) follows:
Social networking has been all the rage on the internet for the past decade and in this period, we have seen many social media platforms, all trying to differentiate themselves in various ways.
Big and small social media platforms alike, there seems to be something for everyone and for every specialized niche. Nextdoor is one such social networking platform that seeks to connect neighbors to each other.
This hyperlocal social networking service for neighborhoods enjoys a lot of popularity in urban areas across the globe and has since grown to be an important platform, especially in these COVID times where physical interactions are frowned upon.
But of course, a service is only useful when it actually works, and lately, this seems to be a challenge for many of them, big and small platforms alike.
Reports now indicate that the Nextdoor app is down and not working for many users.
Some users have been drawing parallels to the recent widespread Facebook outage as a possible reason for this Nextdoor outage but that hasn’t been confirmed.
These widespread reports of the outage from users have since caught the attention of Nextdoor and in response to one of the user complaints, the platform confirms that it is looking into it.
With this, it is probably only a matter of time before the service is restored. We shall continue to keep an eye on this Nextdoor outage and report back as and when we get any more info so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
Update (October 07)
