Nick Offerman has officially joined the cast of Peacock’s upcoming comedy thriller, The Resort. He may be most well known for his role as Ron Swanson on NBC’s hit work comedy series, Parks and Recreation.
Keeping the momentum going, Offerman has gone on to make quite the successful career playing memorably hilarious supporting characters. He has also featured in FX shows such as Devs and Fargo. Offerman also stars in Hulu’s latest hit miniseries, Pam and Tommy. He has even gone on to co-host NBC’s Making It, reuniting with co-star from Parks and Rec, Amy Poehler.
Deadline reports Offerman will be starring in Peacock’s The Resort opposite his co-stars, William Jackson Harper and Cristin Milioti. The series is written by Andy Siara (Palm Springs) and creator of Mr. Robot, Sam Esmail. The Resort will be produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group and Esmail Corp. Siara will also be executive producing the show, alongside Allison Miller. The Resort has been described as a multi-generational, coming-of-age love story, incognito as a fast-paced mystery about the many disappointments that time can bring. The overall plot of the series follows a pair of married teachers, Noah and Emma, as they go on an anniversary trip in the Mayan Riviera.
However, they quickly find themselves enveloped in a strange, unsolved mystery from 15 years prior that ends up putting their emotional bond to the ultimate test. Offerman will be playing the character Murray Thomas. Thomas is yet another guest at the spooky resort. The recurring cast members include Skyler Gisondo (Booksmart), Parvesh Cheena, (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) Debby Ryan (Insatiable), Dylan Baker (Spider-Man 3), Luis Gerardo Mendez (Narcos: Mexico), and Ben Sinclair (High Maintenance).
The show is currently in production and set to shoot on location, in Puerto Rico. Offerman is known for the way he seems to be able to organically capture this stern energy of overall dissatisfaction that never fails to crack a laugh from audiences. He is an automatic hilarious addition to any cast and somehow seems to shine regardless of whether he is cast as the lead role. Fans can catch Offerman next in HBO’s upcoming adaptation of The Last of Us, though fans shouldn’t expect that new series to arrive until next year.
The Resort is currently in production.
