Everything else that happened at the Oscars was overshadowed when Will Smith stepped onto the stage and smacked Chris Rock. On Oscar night, many celebrities chimed in on the situation. Nicki Minaj supported the Smiths, both Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, on Monday morning.
On March 28, Minaj tweeted a thread regarding the Oscars event. Here’s why she believes Will was justified in getting aggressive when Rock made a joke about Jada’s illness.

“I love Chris Rock,” Minaj began her tweet. She gives him the benefit of the doubt, assuming he was unaware Jada suffers from alopecia. Since 2018, she has been vocal about her issue and hair loss. However, Minaj said that someone at the Oscars should have known about the joke and stopped it from happening, even if it was a Rock ad lib.

Will Smith’s feelings for Jada Pinkett Smith were shared by Nicki Minaj.
Minaj went on to interpret what she believes Oscar watching saw. Will and Jada tried to laugh along with Rock when he first delivered the joke. But it was only a matter of seconds until it became too much to bear. It was a “eye-opening” example of real-time emotions, according to Minaj.
“The spouse gets a front-row ticket to his wife’s agony,” Minaj said on Twitter. “He’s the one who consoles her… When the cameras go off, she’ll be crying behind closed doors. People believe that these ‘husbands’ will never run into them in real life because of social media.”
Imagine what it must feel like to be losing your hair to the point where you have to shave it bald. You think that’s easy to deal with for anyone? You don’t think she’s cried about that many times? 2022 y’all gon have to see these men about those jokes you made about their wives.
Minaj continued to have feelings for Will.

Will Smith’s actions could be interpreted as a warning.
Minaj ended by expressing sympathy for Jada. She advises others to think twice before making such carelessly insensitive jokes, or face the same consequences as Rock.
“Imagine how it must feel to be losing your hair to the point that you have to shave it bald,” Minaj wrote on Twitter. “Do you think that’s simple for anyone to deal with?” You don’t believe she’s cried over it enough? In 2022, you’re going to have to confront these men about the comments you made about their spouses.”
