SmartTubeNext (also known simply as ‘SmartTube’) is a popular app for TV Boxes/TV Sticks. It is designed to enjoy YouTube in a more comfortable, practical way with additional possibilities.
But, in the last few days, users of the app have been facing an annoying issue. More specifically, there is a ‘ModernClientData’ error message that appears as a persistent pop-up on SmartTubeNext.
NVIDIA Shield TV SmartTubeNext ‘ModernClientData’ error
A persistent pop up with a ‘ModernClientData’ error message appears over the content being played. So, it directly interferes with the viewing experience.
On the good side, the error affects the interface, but not the operation of the app. But, anyway, it is quite annoying that the pop-up appears constantly while watching videos.
It doesn’t have any other side effect that I know, but the notification is too frequent and annoying. Source
An update to 14.xx was available which I installed but when I tried to launch it, the screen went black and then the home screen reappeared. It kept happening so I did a full reboot of the television and it still happens – so I can’t even see what the full version number is but it may be 14.04 but it was whatever was available today, 26th January 2022. Some users report that, after the most recent SmartTubeNext update (available for a few hours), the issue has already been resolved. However, there is still no official word from the developers confirming this.
Once new events related to this matter arise, we will update this article. You can also check the bugs/issues tracker dedicated to the NVIDIA Shield TV. Featured Image: SmartTubeNext
